Ocean Front House

On a promontory overlooking Block Island Sound, this 1930's house was lifted and relocated during renovation to optimize ocean views, preserve and protect the natural surroundings and create an enclosed compound.

A crushed shell driveway meanders through restored maritime shrubland plantings, past a small vegetable garden and arrives at the parking court. A stepping stone path extends an invitation through drifts of native groundcovers past the cabana and into the new pool area. A locally sourced granite retaining wall elevates the infinity edge lap pool and terrace maintaining views to the ocean. Adjacent shrub plantings offer privacy, and native grasses planted at the water's edge reference the dune landscape in the distance.
