Anne Lacouture Penniman - Principal / Owner
Anne Penniman, ASLA, is a registered landscape architect with 35 years of experience in both public and private work. Since founding the firm in 1991, Anne has implemented designs that range in scale from private contemplative gardens to public park master planning. Many of her projects have received regional awards and recognition. Anne received her B.A. from Yale University and her Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia. While at Virginia she participated in an urban design program in Vicenza, Italy, absorbing the principles of urbanism as well as the European garden tradition. Extensive travel to the great gardens, parks, and cities of Europe as well as the national parks of North and South America, has informed Anne's thoughtful design approach and commitment to site context and ecology. She is an enthusiastic photographer and keen observer of nature, deriving inspiration from the harmony of native plant communities. Anne is a Member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. She is CLARB certified and a registered Landscape Architect in Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maine. She is an Approved Designer by the New England Wildflower Society, former Board Member of Connecticut Fund for the Environment / Save the Sound, and Member of the State of Connecticut Board of Landscape Architects.
